NY Minor League Club Pays Homage to Ukraine.Over the last several years, ISG Baseball has played a key role in helping embattled Ukraine keep baseball alive despite the hardships the country has undergone. We have aided Ukraine little leaguers travel to tournaments throughout Europe and have been instrumental in the building of a new baseball complex in the center of the country.
Recently a good friend of ISG's helped the Brooklyn Cyclones, a NY Met affiliate in the Class A NY-Penn League, illuminate the cause of Ukraine. As a sign of support and solidarity with Ukraine, for their June 9th game, the team wore a custom-made uniform designed by Ukrainian children from Kharkiv, with the image of a white stork. Dimitry Sagalchik, who has been instrumental with several ISG clinics in Poland, was a major force in helping organize the unfolding of the largest flag of Ukraine prior to the game, a large display of children's drawings, and an exhibit of wartime posters by Olena Speranska. The drawing project called "The World I Want to Live in, 2024 Leleka" was organized by the Public Movement of Peacekeepers, and the honorary ambassador of the Kharkiv Territorial Community in NY, Sergíy Kyslytsya, honored artist Viktoriya Vennikova prior to the game. The exhibition of school children's drawings was meant to remind Americans about Ukraine and that the war in Ukraine is still ongoing. The photos below only show some highlights of the game and the drawings. For more detailed information, visit the facebook page of Dimitry Sagalchik. There you will find more phtos and videos of the day's activities. |
ISG Sponsored International Coaches Forum at 2024 ABCA Convention a Huge Hit.
Thursday night at the annual ABCA Convention is usually reserved for business meetings for all of the divisions of the organization. Coaches attend those meetings to find out about items relevant to their upcoming seasons. About 25 years ago, ISG founder Bill Arce began holding a meeting that same night for any internationally based coach who wanted to attend. In recent years, that meeting has been turned into a Forum feauturing presenters and networking, but this year, for the first time, ISG Baseball sponsored the social that followed the event. After some brief presentations by a panaple of coaches including N.Y. Met hitting coach Darin Everson, motor learning expert Martijn Nijhoff from the Netherlands, and pitching rehab guru Jason Colleran coaches from 14 countries stayed until closing, networking and generally reviving old friendships.
