Qualification has been completed for the WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup 2026 which will be held in Mexico this coming September. Recently Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, runners-up in the Carribean and Central American qualifiers, joined Venezuela, the USA and Cuba in the tournament.
With the addition of the host nation of Mexico, the number of teams in the competition is twelve. These teams will join the victors from other qualifying events in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Those entrants include Germany, Czechia, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Australia, and South Africa.
The tournament will be held in the city of Merida, Mexico on the Yucatan peninsula from September 25th until October 4th. Since 1989, when it was originally called The World Youth Baseball Championship, the tournament has been held every two years.
Teams not only vie for the title in the event, but they also earn points which count toward a federation’s standing in the world baseball rankings.
Currently Japan is ranked #1 followed closely by Chinese Taipei and the USA.
